Find Your Motivation
Motivation is one's direction to behaviour, or what causes a person to want to repeat a behaviour, a set of force that acts behind the motives.
Motivation is a funny thing. Sometimes we have it in spades. We get excited about all that could possibly be. We feel confident, energised and ready to take on the day, maybe even the world. Other times our motivation goes missing. We feel flat, exhausted and overwhelmed, unable to set our mind to any task and find our spark. Motivation is key to achieving our goals without it we are likely to stay in the same old rut. So what can we do to help route out our motivation and make sure it hangs around long enough for us to get to where we want to be?
I recently read a brilliant book called 'The Source' by Dr Tara Swart in which she talks about helping her clients better understand what motivates them and more importantly, what zaps them or 'de-motivates' them.
So taking a leaf out of Dr Swart's book, I invite you to join me in exploring our motivation.
All you need in a paper and a Pen. Use the Headings
'Motivators' and 'Distractions'. Take the week and go about your normal life, only pay more attention. Notice behaviours or activities that fill you with energy and motivation and those that Zap you. Then put the behaviours under the headings on your page.
This may sound simple, and technically it is, but it will work wonders. Learning more about how our daily routines and rituals impact us, on that deeper level will enable us to make better informed choices about where we chose to place our time and energy. Filling our life with things that energise, motivate and inspire us and saying goodbye to habits and behaviours that don't serve us.
